Mr. Tanen is a minor character in the second season of Ugly Betty. He is portrayed by Kurt Fuller.
He is the adoptive father of Amanda Tanen. Amanda initially thought he was her biological father, but it was revealed he and his wife adopted her from his client, Fey Sommers.

Not much is known about his earlier life. Somewhere along the years, he became an investment banker and met and married Rosemary Tanen. Due to his lethargic sperm, they couldn't conceive on their own. One of his clients was pregnant but didn't want the child, so the couple decided to adopt the baby and raise her in Scarsdale, NY.
