Grace Chin is a minor recurring character who appeared in the first season of Ugly Betty. She is portrayed by Lucy Liu.
Biography[]
Grace Chin is a lawyer who had gone to the same college as Daniel. During her time there, Grace wore glasses and had no sense of style. Daniel never noticed her, until he realized that he needed her help with passing an upcoming exam, so he asked Grace out on a date, but ended up standing her up. She spent the evening consoling herself by playing Wolfenstein, a violent World War 2 video game, which suggests she has some guy tendencies. Eventually she graduated college and progressed to law school, However, she had never overcame emotionally the standup Daniel did. When Daniel's father was accused of murdering Fey Sommers, she saw her chance to take vengeance on Daniel by refusing to represent Brad Meade.
She agreed to take the case only after Daniel fully apologized for standing her up during their college days, as well as calling every girl he ever insulted or rejected and apologizing to them. (It turned out later that Daniel repeatedly called his friend Becks, but Grace believed Daniel was contrite and took up Bradford's case). The first fact Grace told Daniel was that the government did not have a strong case against Brad, which offered hope. She and Daniel briefly had a relationship, which ended (along with her involvement in Bradford's case) when Alexis threatened to expose their affair. But more than likely, the final straw was when Alexis insulted her, to which she gave her a snappy come back about her surgery.
